Walk for Peace in the USA: Capturing the Inspiring Journey of Buddhist Monks

As a documentary and event photographer, I believe some moments deserve to be preserved not only for today but for future generations. The Walk for Peace across the United States is one of those extraordinary journeys.

A dedicated group of Buddhist monks is walking across America with a simple yet powerful mission—to inspire peace, compassion, mindfulness, and unity. Every mile they walk reminds us that kindness has no boundaries and that peace begins within each of us. Their journey brings together people from diverse backgrounds, encouraging communities to slow down, reflect, and embrace hope in a world that often feels divided.

For me, this experience was deeply personal—and one I will never forget.

There are only a handful of people I've truly wanted to meet in person. After following the monks on social media during their Walk for Peace, I always hoped our paths would cross one day. Today, that hope became a reality. Meeting them in person was an unforgettable and humbling experience. Sometimes, the moments you've been waiting for really do come true.

What made this day even more meaningful was realizing it happened on the exact anniversary of my arrival in the United States 37 years ago. On this very same date, my life changed forever as I began a new journey in America, filled with hope, challenges, and dreams. To meet these inspiring monks on such a significant anniversary felt more than a coincidence—it felt like a reminder of how life has a remarkable way of bringing meaningful moments together.

Being able to photograph their journey was an incredible honor. Every portrait, every smile, and every step tells a story of faith, perseverance, compassion, and humanity. These are more than photographs—they are historical memories of a movement dedicated to bringing peace to communities across America.

As a professional photographer based in Southern California with over 20 years of experience, I love documenting meaningful events, cultural traditions, community gatherings, and inspiring stories that deserve to be remembered. Photography has the unique ability to preserve history, celebrate humanity, and connect generations through authentic moments that will continue to inspire decades from now.

I hope these images encourage others to spread kindness, choose compassion, and remember that even the smallest step taken with purpose can make a lasting difference. I am grateful that, on the 37th anniversary of my journey to the United States, I was able to witness and preserve another journey—one that reminds us all that peace is not simply a destination, but a path we choose to walk every day.
